[Screencast] Google Real-Time Search

Google launched real-time search service that aggregates recent (I mean in "seconds" recent) news articles, blog posts and messages from twitter, friendfeed, jaiku, identi.ca, myspace and facebook (yes even them!).

Here's an example of real-time search results page for Google.

Below is the screencast version of Google real-time search results:

My First Screencast Using Screenr

As the title suggests, my first screencast using Screenr. Below is the video:

Couple of thing I should point out about Screenr since I've been looking for something like this for a long long time. I've tried using some desktop based apps for Screencasting but this one tops the rest because its easy to use (even n00bs can use it with ease) and the its descriptive (but you might want to use it in a high-speed internet) since the time it takes to convert your screencast is 2X the time of your screencast i.e. if you screencast length is about 1 min, it suggests that the conversion to different formats will take about 2 minutes. But I think, having high-speed internet would help the cause a lot.

More such videos (sometimes cooler ones) @ IMB.

Note: This screencast is a test one I was trying to take of my twitter pages. Nothing intricate or jazzy but just wanted to show how interesting this new web service is. So hope you like it!

Screenshots: Google's Experimental Redesign

Apparently, Google is trying to out new redesign for its ever-famous clean homepage of Google.com. In the new format, lots of changes can be seen along with new cleaner logo (less the shadow), few deletions from its previous homepage avatars and also adding few on the top left page. Paid Versus Earned Media

For the last week or so, I've been thinking about difference between digital media and social media. Even I tweeted about the same. I'm also trying to pen down my elaborate thoughts at IMB but thought of sharing this cool and informative video first here.

IamGmail.com

Today I just came across this website called IamGmail.com in one of my Gtalk so-called frand list. Seems interesting though. However, when you check this website, it shows as if they want you to sign-up for Gmail. Although I can't seem to understand why would someone make this website except intelligent Google guys.

btw, the disclaimer in the website says: GMAIL® is registered trademark of Google® Inc. We are not associated with Google in anyways.

Now you think, while I rest! :)

From Cricket To Glitz - Enter Bhajji & Some Bad Blood!

No. I ain't a fan of this high flying Sikh. Though I appreciated quite a few times that he did his bit to take India to the glory of victory sometimes. Other than that, nothing. No love lost there.

And if you ask me the reasons, then surely I've few words. I always think people who are in the limelight of public purview and have a great influence on society, especially kids (which is the case here for Mr. Singh) - I don't think he has set right image and action with his outburst of temper and attitude. Period!

But this is interesting. Today I came to know that Harbhajan (aka Bhajji) is going to produce Zee TV's Dance India Dance- Season 2. WOW! From cricket to racial remarks to TVC's and now full time television content producer (i.e. he's starting a new Television Production Company called TRP-The Right Picture). What else can we ask for?

And the best part is still left. Check this website of his'. Poor guy couldn't own .Com to his name. Why you ask? If you check in whois who owns HarbhajanSingh.com - you're in for a surprise. Yes, an Aussie bloke from Victoria. And the timing of the registration can't be perfect too. Soon after his racial comments which Aussie papers dubbed him as villain, this bloke registered the site.

Again poor Bhajji! First he's fired because of his comments then in world-wide-web someone else registers his name (and that too an Aussie) - some bad blood you can say!

Video: Gates Praises Arch-Rival Adversary Jobs!

This makes for the hallmark video since I don't think we see this often. Yes, Bill Gates of world's largest software maker Microsoft praises his long term arch-rival adversary Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computers.

Here's the talk (David Matthews of Columbia Executive Business School has this question for Bill Gates):

QUESTION: If you could just comment and tell us what your thoughts are on the job Steve Jobs has done as the CEO of Apple (Audience laughs as Gates smiles.)

GATES: Well, he's done a fantastic job. Apple is in a bit of a different business where they make hardware and software together.  But when Steve was coming back to Apple, which was actually through an acquisition of NeXT that he ran, Apple was in very tough shape. In fact, most likely it wasn't going to survive.  And he brought in a team, he brought in inspiration about great products and design that's made Apple back into being an incredible force in doing good things.  And it's great to have competitors like that.  We write software for Apple, Microsoft does.  They compete with Apple.  But he, of all the leaders in the industry that I've worked with, he showed more inspiration and he saved the company.
